Macklemore has sold millions of records, toured worldwide, and enjoyed a number of Billboard smash hits including “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us”, but this sales and sea-to-shining-sea success hasn’t ceased the multi-issue activist’s environmental attention to eco-conscious detail. Born in Kent and raised in Seattle, the Washington state native is all too familiar with the great outdoors, often finding retreats into nature and the escape from it all the sojourns provided as a means of refining his focus and recharging his artistic energies.

Recently, Mack teamed up with longtime active wear collaborator Columbia Sportswear to try and make some sense of this mess we’ve made – and he headed home to The Evergreen state to do it. The rapper, singer, songwriter, and stage-raging performer camped out on nearby Mount Rainier, utilizing Columbia tints, backpacks, and weather-ready gear to aid his agenda. Whether struggling with traveling on the road for months at a time or battling addiction, returning to the outdoors has always provided Macklemore with a renewed perspective and helped inspire the music many of us have enjoyed throughout the years. #TestedTough
