(Andrea Aguilar: AA) When did you fall in love with Hip Hop?
(Snow Tha Product: SNOW) In high school. I was a Freshman, and I was all emo and stuff like that. I was really into Eminem. He was just expressing how I felt. I was angry at the world. And from there, it just kinda built into liking a lot more other rappers. I kinda went backwards. First I liked Eminem, but then I got into Biggie and Pac and Pun. I fell in love with the way Andre 3000 spit and Ludacris, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott. It just kinda went from there.
(AA) What are the biggest challenges that female MCs face nowadays?
(SNOW) Females. I think a lot of shit you get is from females that don’t understand that this is representing us. We’re trying to open doors for other females and trying to represent females, and you don’t need to hate on me because we’re not competing. You’re a fan of music. You’re not an artist, so don’t give me so much shit. And a lot of times too, male’s egos. They just don’t really respect a female. I just want to be famous enough to be able to walk in a studio and someone not say, “So what do you do? Are you like a singer or dancer or something?” like I’m not worthy enough of being a rapper. Sometimes females. Sometimes males. Just the haters. Why hate? If you don’t like it, don’t pay attention.
(AA) You don’t rap about sex or use the P-word…Is there a particular reason you choose not to?
(SNOW) What’s funny is I cuss like a sailor, but it’s just that part…I think it’s just more like I’m a private person when it comes to my personal life. I have to keep something to myself. I can’t give everything. 24-seven I’m working, I’m doing music, I’m in the studio, I’m recording, but there’s just gotta be something that’s private. Mine. I’ve definitely always been brought up with the right morals when it comes to that. I wasn’t ever sleeping around or anything, so I don’t see why I should have to talk about that type of stuff. As a female, that’s how you’re brought up.
