Citing the dark and dignified confluence of Amy Winehouse and Nina Simone as influences, while prepared for the stage and stardom by her mother - a professional dancer; and father - a drum pounding soul singer, Monaco’s unique Ontario, Canada arthouse upbringing combines with her wearable gallery aesthetic to offer a refreshing resource for contemporary radio. “If you can’t be safe, be spectacular,” says Monaco, whose audacious outlook on art arrives to us via soul chauffeur seated right alongside her music.
After arriving on the scene in 2010 using the upstart Moosetrax MooseFM Writers Competition as platform for proposal, Monaco quickly became a name of mention . By 2012 she was ready to release her debut EP “Anything Goes” and just two years later her popular videos “And Baby” and “Like an Ocean” made their way onto music video channels across North America. Soon, the red-headed siren had relocated to one of America’s crowned music capitals - Nashville, Tennessee. While recording in the shadows of the Grand Ole Opry, Monaco teamed up with renowned multi-instrumentalists John Heinrich and Phil Valdez for the lover’s rock “Cupid”, the lead single from her debut album “These Are Just Suggestions”. Released earlier this spring, Monaco’s full-length debut is a proper introduction to the artist’s range and ability.
