For the Spring/Summer 2k15 season, Joy Rich adds to its illustrious color-loud legacy by delivering the designer envelope to a few seemingly disparate spaces – the past and present, the realistic and surreal. The contemporary street brand’s latest line offers a collection reaching toward a new style stage symbolic of opposite eras with integrated attitude. Equally influenced by then-futurist graphic elements of the 1980’s (which served to fashionably predict the “Now”); reflective optimism (the “Now” reminiscing favorably on social mores of the days back “Then”); each in minimalist harmony with distinctly facile motifs like video games, sports, software, emptiness, and abstract topicality such as young love, global classism, isolation/alienation, and multi-ethnic hybridization. Fashion is influential far beyond the wears of the worldly. Designers and indie brands assist in defining the collective mindsets – both compliant and rebellious - of people occupying a particular space and time. With retail stores in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Hollywood (USA), few brands park on driveways and drive on parkways – reppin’ the streets worldwide – like Joy Rich.
