(ToneSwep: TS) What’s going on with your Lakers, Tiff?
(Tiffany Haddish: TH) Man! I don’t know. I think it’s some kind of horrible curse because of Kobe and his divorce (Laughs!). So now they are the Clippers and the Clippers have become the Lakers. But with the divorce being called off they will probably start winning again.
(TS) Who is the most fun to work with on “Real Husbands of Hollywood”?
(TH) Who keeps me laughing at all times are Kevin (Hart) and JB Smoove. Even when JB is tired he cracks me up. And Boris Kodjoe is fun and beautiful to look at. So, Hello!
(TS) What sneak peek insights can you give us into your new film that comes out later this year with Nick Cannon “School Dance”?
(TH) I play Kat Williams’ baby mama and everything I do is real ratchet. I can’t give away too much. There are also a lot of big name comedians in the film, so expect it to be hilarious.
(TS) What is the biggest difference between working with Snoop Dogg and working with Jay Leno?
(TH) The weed (Laughs!). One has his own sound stage. And the other has air you can’t actually breathe with no problem. Lotta smoke in there.
(TS) What is the best Black sitcom of All-Time?
(TH) I got two favorites. The Cosby Show was super awesome. I got to imagine that Bill Cosby was my daddy. And then Martin was super hilarious. I still laugh at that show to this day.
(TS) When I interviewed DJ Quik years ago, he said growing up in South Central was like living atop a Volcano. Never knew when something might pop off, when the city would erupt. How would you say it was for you growing up in the S-C?
(TH) I always felt like I was walking on egg shells. Don’t do this. Don’t do that. Don’t go anywhere by yourself. It was scary. But fun at the same time, I mean, I just moved out of the hood recently. But it has changed a lot. Back then in the 90’s there were crack heads everywhere. They were like zombies. All you saw were crack heads and Jehovah Witnesses (Laughs!). Now, it is more mixed. I was just visiting my Granny the other day and there are a lot of white people moving into South Central. The area is slowly improving, becoming more diverse. And then I have also noticed that crime has gone down since they opened all these dispensaries (Laughs!). But it won’t really change overall, really and truly change, until the city educates and inspires the children, and also the adults.
(TS) What is the single most important quality one needs to possess to make it in Hollywood, as you have?
(TH) You gotta have heart. You can’t quit. You have to be willing to educate yourself on the business. Educate and make certain you have the tools that are required for you to succeed at what you’re trying to do. Acting, modeling, directing, whatever it is you decide to do as a career… find a school with good programs and educate yourself on how to do it. And make certain you love it. Love what you do.
