(ToneSwep: TS) You’re known as “The Golden Child” in the YMCMB family. But truthfully you’re the youngest running rap right now, man. At 19, you are easily the hottest Hip-Pop artist in the game right now. What responsibilities come with being in your position?
(Twist: Twist) A lot of hard work. And ummm (measures his response)…. Honestly just that, man. Hard work. Working hard and trying to perfect my craft. Staying productive. Staying on tour, traveling from city to city. Continuing to produce great music. A lot of hard work for sure. My brother Lil Wayne runs the game. Me and Diggy are like the young cats in the game. Got the young girls going wild (laughs). So that is the main responsibility I have, just to keep working hard.
(TS) What’s the most important message that you learned from Birdman?
(Twist) Just to stay true to myself. Me and uncle Stunna talk a lot. When we talk it’s more about family stuff. No so much about the industry, or about the music, but about family and life in general. He loves my work ethic and everything I do. He just tells me I’m the future. Cash Money will be here 20 years from now, and the young artists such as myself are the future of the label.
(TS) I heard the “#1 Girl Tour” has been pure madness, Twist.
(Twist) It’s been fun. It’s been crazy! All the fans have been screaming from start to finish. And they’ve been beating on my tour bus a lot (laughs). I have dents all over my tour bus now from the fans pounding their fists when we pull off.
(TS) Craziest city on the tour thus far?
(Twist) Awww mannn… As of now I would have to say New York. I shut it down and then brought my brother Diggy out at the end. Atmosphere was amazing.
(TS) If a girl is trying to get Twisted, what are three qualities she has to possess?
(Twist) She can’t be dumb. She has to be intelligent. She has to be cool, a laid back chick. And she has to be beautiful. I love beautiful girls.
